It is my sad duty to report that Trevor Richmond our Group President sadly passed away this morning. Trevor had not been well recently and this news is not unexpected. However this news is still a great shock and will be felt by many.
Trevor has touched the lives of so many people through scouting in Solihull. He was 1st Shirley Group President and an active member of the group exec until only a few weeks ago. He was one of my predecessors as Group Scout Leader as well as a section leader and until recently was the Blythe District Chairman.
He was also the architect who designed and helped build our headquarters building back in 1968. He knew every corner of that building and was involved in every aspect of the recent extensions and redesigns which have taken place in recent years. I am so happy that we decided to honour Trevor by renaming the HQ building "Richmond Hall" following the Parkgate redevelopment a few years back.
Trevor recently celebrated his 90th birthday. To mark the occasion 1st Shirley hosted a birthday celebration at Richmond hall where a large group of friends gathered to celebrate the milestone as well as to celebrate the contribution to scouting in Solihull.
Rest in peace Trevor, 1st Shirley will be forever in your debt
